BEIJING (Reuters) – German Financial system Minister Robert Habeck instructed Chinese language officers in Beijing on Saturday that the European Union’s proposed tariffs on Chinese language items weren’t a “punishment”.
Habeck is the primary go to by a senior European official to China since Brussels proposed imposing steep tariffs on imports of Chinese language-made electrical autos (EVs) to fight what the EU sees as extreme subsidies.
China warned on Friday forward of his arrival that escalating friction with the European Union over electrical autos may spark a commerce battle.
